Their story

Julián Ortega Durán (Mérida, Badajoz, 1988). He holds degrees in Industrial Design Engineering, in Political and Administrative Science and in Artistic Ceramics.

He is currently a potter and runs Terralfar in Solana de Cabañas (Cáceres), where he produces functional and artistic pieces rooted in his family tradition, with a focus on pieces and events for historical re-enactment, which bring all these fields together.

At Terralfar he works alongside other creatives and technicians, joining forces in their ceramic design and production lab.

What will we do?
  • We get our hands dirty with clay to understand how a craftsman works, from design, understanding the materials and the history, through to production and sale
  • A short introduction to ceramics through some very simple little figures
  • We will make some pieces inspired by our tradition
  • The pieces can be collected later, once fired, at the Artesanex shop
